Germany Clears Way for AMD Chip Plant in Dresden
Germany has agreed to provide state guarantees to Advanced Micro Devices, clearing the way for the U.S. semiconductor maker to erect a new high-tech plant in the eastern city of Dresden, officials said on Tuesday. "The formal announcement of the expansion plans by Advanced Micro, a 34-year-old company headquartered in the heart of Silicon Valley, could come as early as Thursday, when AMD has scheduled a press conference with top executives in Dresden."
