Bucking the trend set by the US and the UK, the German government is apparently ready to ban the practice of employer monitoring of employee email. A spokesman for AOL Germany said that the law should actually enhance worker productivity because it reduces time lost to private phone calls. Privacy activists hope to use the German law to move US legislators to consider similar guarantees.
