Gears of War is movie-bound
Los Angeles (CA) - Gears of War is heading to the land of Tomb Raider, Doom, and Super Mario Bros as a successful video game that is on its way to becoming a feature film.
The game, which was released last November, has sold over three million copies and helped to bring the Xbox 360 back into the limelight during the holiday season otherwise dominated by the Wii and PS3.
Gears of War became the fastest selling Xbox 360 title and soon jumped to the top spot on the list of Xbox Live activity.
"We’re not going to do a to a lowest-common-denominator movie. We’re going to attempt to elevate it," said game producer Marty Bowen.
Microsoft’s other big game series, Halo, is also headed for a red carpet debut. A movie based on the sci-fi shooter is planned to roll out to theaters some time next year.
