General Imaging to Unveil GE E850 Digital Camera
The idea behind General Electric’s new line of cameras seems to be "more for less." That being the case, they’re worth taking a look at. General Imaging, the worldwide exclusive licensee for GE-branded digital cameras, announced that RadioShack will begin carrying one of its new cameras in time for Father’s Day. The GE E850 retails for less than $200 and will be available exclusively at RadioShack until September 2007.
The E850 is in the mid-range of the eight-camera GE line. It’s an intermediate point-and-shoot that offers a 28mm equivalent wide-angle lens, 8 megapixels of resolution, a 5X optical zoom and a large 3" LCD screen. It’s powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
All GE cameras boast standard features that include face detection, which is a function that recognizes human faces, highlights them on the LCD screen, and provides adequate focus and exposure. Other features include image stabilization, red-eye removal, ISO 1600 sensitivity, and panoramic stitching, a software feature built into the camera that allows the photographer to take up to three photos of a wide vista and "stitch" them together as a single image.
