Xbox Live Arcade cap triples to 150 MB
Redmond (WA) - Microsoft today announced that it is increasing the size limit on Xbox Live Arcade titles from 50 MB to 150 MB. This comes right on the heels of Microsoft’s announcement of a new, higher capacity 512 MB memory module for the Xbox 360. The announcements comes after last week’s Playstation Store debut of Tekken 5, a 2 GB download.
The Xbox Live Arcade is predominantly stocked with titles that are very simplistic and only take up a couple dozen megabytes. The Wii has been pushing the limit above Microsoft just a little, with its limited selection of downloadable Nintendo 64 titles.
However, most of the size competition is set down by Sony. The PS3 downloadable titles have no official size cap. Last week, Namco Bandai introduced Tekken 5 to the Playstation Store for $20, making it the largest and most expensive download title across all platforms.
