San Diego (CA) - Gateway adds to new models to its PC family. The 7200S combines BTX architecture with the functionality of a Media Center PC. The 3250X is positioned as entry-level multimedia PC and is offered from $800.
Both new desktop PCs come with Microsoft's recently introduced Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 operating system. A built-in TV tuner, which allows PCs to be used as TV, Personal Video Recorder (PVR) and FM radio is standard on the 7200S and is available as an option on the 3250X.
Starting at $800, the 3250X comes with the basics such as a CD-RW drive, a 160 GByte harddisk, 512 MByte RAM, a 15" LCD, and a Pentium 4 515 processor (2.93 GHz). With the equipment of a typical Media Center PC, such as a TV Tuner card, Wi-Fi capability and a DVD writer, the price quickly escalates to about $1300.
Add about $100 and you get the same features in the higher end 7200S model which is built in BTX architecture to offer quieter operation and more efficient cooling of components. The computer comes with a 3.20 GHz Pentium 4 chip, Intel's 915G PCI Express chipset, a DVD writer, an ATI X300SE graphic card, a 17" LCD and a TV Tuner as a key element of a Media Center PC.
