Gateway discovers glitch in 1GHz AMD systems
Gateway has suspended shipments of computers containing AMD's 1GHz Thunderbird chip after discovering a glitch that can cause the systems to lock up.
A company spokesman said the glitch has shown up in an unspecified percentage of computers in its lab, but so far no customers have reported any problems. Gateway said the problem is likely not with the chip itself, but with the overall design of the system or other components, possibly a motherboard or power supply issue.
