Gateway delays 1 GHz T-bird PC
A spokesman for Gateway has revealed that a problem with its new 1 GHz PCs has resulted in a replacement of the AMD Thunderbird processor with slower Athlon-based chips. The company believes the trouble is in the motherboard or power supply and hopes to solve the problem and ship the faster product by July 10. The Thunderbird has 256 kBytes of on-chip cache that the Athlon processor lacks.
