The Radeon R9 290 employs AMD's Hawaii GPU with four of its 44 Compute Units disabled, yielding a board with 2560 shaders and 160 texture units. The back-end persists, including a 512-bit aggregate memory bus and 64 ROPS. What you're left with is a very capable high-end gaming card for significantly less money than the 290X. Outfitted with a third-party heat sink and fan, the Radeon R9 290 offers the best value in a high-end graphics card today.
Radeon R9 290
High-End Performance With Lots Of Value
Honorable Mention:
AMD's Radeon R9 290X set a high bar for single-GPU performance when it launched, earning our Tom's Hardware Elite award in the process. Although Nvidia leap-frogged it with the GeForce GTX 780 Ti, the Hawaii-powered board remains a very fast gaming product. At $500, it's significantly cheaper than Nvidia's competition. And while we're not impressed with AMD's reference cooler, the 290X is much easier to live with now that quieter third-party thermal solutions are available.
Radeon R9 290X
Flagship Gaming Performance
Honorable Mention:
While the GeForce GTX Titan Black is technically the fastest single-GPU graphics card available, Nvidia's GeForce GTX 780 Ti should match its gaming performance, especially with 6 GB versions on the way. Introduced shortly after AMD's Radeon R9 290X, the flagship GeForce features a fully-enabled GK110 GPU with all 2880 of its CUDA cores enabled and backed by 1750 MHz memory. The 780 Ti is deliberately hobbled in double-precision math, but that's inconsequential in games. A relatively high price tag prevents this board from becoming a value leader, but we're giving the GeForce GTX 780 Ti an honorable mention for its blazing-fast performance. Read the Full Review
GeForce GTX 780 Ti
Fastest Single-GPU Gaming Card
New formart is awful is OK, but what really lets it down is I have to read the text to beeline to a grade of GPUs within my budget.
R9 280X price is not listed either. In the UK anway your splitting hairs between the 770 and the 280X basically the same cost and performance.

I hit back in the browser after registration and refresh but not "Add Your Coment" and I can't delete which is a shame, maybe the forum is bugged?
