Gamers support AMD 3DNow! en masse
Twelve top PC entertainment software publishers and developers pledged their support AMD's 3DNow! technology.
The announcement was a preemptive strike against rival Intel's upcoming Feb. 17 debut of Pentium III customers and developers.
AMD estimates its current 3DNow! installed base at more than 8.5 million and hopes to exceed 30 million by the end of 1999. The games developers supporting 3DNow! include Accolade, Activision, Criterion Studios, Digital Anvil, Eidos, GT Interactive, Gremlin, id Software, Interplay, Psygnosis, Rage, and 3DO.
