Benchmark Results: Streaming And 4KB Random Access

by

At constant maximum streaming reads, the new ioXtreme drives aren’t much slower than the ioDrives, but the minimum performance can drop.

Once you select one of the two modes that improve write performance, you will receive consistent results. Only the ioXtreme’s Maximim Capacity Mode sees a negative performance impact under many sequential writes.

4KB reads are a strength of Intel’s X25-M G2 drive, and the ioXtreme is, in fact, slower. The ioDrive still remains unbeaten here.

Random writes at 4KB are executed many times faster on the Fusion-io drives versus the Intel X25-M G2.

The SNIA Solid State Storage Initiative (SSSI) site has a lot of useful information about SSD technology.

Are you sure those charts should say ms? 90ms is a tad slow for access.
