Fujitsu unveils next-generation hard drives
Fujitsu has introduced a new line of entry-level desktop hard drives that offer the industry's fastest transfer rate and leading areal density, company officials said.
The Fujitsu XV10 series hard drives range in capacity from 10.2 GB to 20.4GB. Designed for the sub-$1,000 PC market, they feature a 37.8 MB per second transfer rate and an access time of 9.5 ms, allowing high-speed access to large files, such as digital audio or video, movies, animation, Internet caching and other data intensive entertainment and business applications.
XV10 product samples are expected to be available in November, with volume shipments set to begin in December.
