Fujifilm Shoots out Three More Cameras Starting at $179

Summer's not quite over yet, so there's still plenty of time for you to convert images of nature into digital files that you can post on the Internet or email to your friends who haven't managed to leave their veal-fattening pens for a vacation. Or, you could take pictures to hang on the wall just like we used to do back in the day. Digital cameras are ever so slowly coming down in price, but if you're making the move from conventional 35mm photography, make sure that you read plenty of reviews before spending your tax rebate check. The quality vs. price question with digital cameras doesn't seem to correlate to any conventional wisdom. Fuji now has three new models targeted at the "entry level" digital photographer: the FinePix A101, FinePix A201, and FinePix 2600 Zoom digital cameras. The three models feature conventional CCD sensors and varying zoom capabilities. The FinePix A101 has a 1.3 million-sensor CCD and 2x digital zoom; the FinePix A201 has a 2.0 million-sensor CCD and 2.5x digital zoom; and the FinePix 2600 Zoom offers a 2.0 million-sensor CCD with 3x optical and 2.5x digital zoom capabilities. All three models also offer image capture abilities for e-mail photo-sharing and printing. The FinePix A101 will be available late August 2001 at $179. The FinePix A201 and FinePix 2600 Zoom, priced at $249 and $299, respectively, will be available in September 2001.
