Free licensing for Windows CE?
Microsoft may drop the license fees it charges developers to use Windows CE in an attempt to get manufacturers to use the software, sources said.
Windows CE is a scaled-down operating system used in devices ranging from handheld computers to Internet appliances and smart cash registers.
The possible move comes as Microsoft continues to struggle to find a niche for the software which so far has failed to make any significant inroads against market leader Palm.
