Source: Foxconn Receives Order for Next iPhone

Foxconn has reportedly received an order for the next iteration of Apple's iPhone.

While AT&T is busy making vague statements about introducing "incentives" to encourage iPhone users to reduce their data usage, Apple is reportedly busy making a completely new iPhone.

I'll give you a few minutes to get over the shock.

Editor in chief of Mobile Review, Eldar Murtazin, today tweeted, "Foxconn received order for next generation iphone." Dubbed "the ultimate insider when it come to all things mobile" by Engadget, Murtazin is a trusted source in the mobile industry and the timing (assuming a mid-2010 launch) does seem to fit.

Late last month certain application developers who log usage statistics found that an iPhone identifying itself as version 3,1 has been running current apps. iPhone developer Pandav told MacRumors that its iBART public transportation for San Francisco guide is reporting usage from an iPhone 3,1.

Apple refers to the first iPhone as 1,1 and the 3G as 1,2, signifying feature set upgrade with a similar class-CPU. The iPhone 3GS got bumped to 2,1 thanks to a massive CPU upgrade.
