Foxconn 8800GTX Runs With The Best : Foxconn Does Graphics?
Foxconn Does Graphics?
PC Gamers know brands, but many might be shocked to learn their favorite "card maker" doesn't actually make cards. Most graphics card "companies" leave the actual production of their products to manufacturing experts such as Hon Hai Precision Industry Company, Limited. But Hon Hai isn't just a manufacturer of "nameless" components that go on to be branded by its OEM customers; it also owns the brand Foxconn.
Foxconn has spent several years developing brand recognition for its retail motherboards, and more recently decided to add graphics cards. A serious card like the 8800GTX proves the company's serious intentions for its new product line.

We received Foxconn's 8800GTX for use in our 680i platform comparisons, and it's more than coincidental that the card looks identical to better-known models. We'd most likely be sued if we told you which companies don't actually make anything, and when multiple OEM suppliers follow nVidia's reference design you might never know exactly where your "enthusiast brand" card comes from. On the other hand, Foxconn uses its own parts.
