Using The Monitor

This monitor is aimed at the general public and as such it's a success. The default adjustments are good and the contrast is sufficient for office applications, though I would have preferred slightly lower brightness. The picture was very good without having to spend a lot of time in the menus.

For games, the panel's latency severely impacted performance. It'll do for occasional playing. But if you're a gamer, don't even consider it. But again, remember that this display is intended for family PCs first and foremost.

Video Games

Video performance was acceptable. The good results are due in part to the monitor's excellent fidelity, which offers very natural flesh tones and fairly fluid video, free of jerkiness. The display was noisy and sparkling was quite visible. But even in that area, this display wasn't the worst of the bunch.

Conclusions

The HP W19 has points in its favour if you look at it as a consumer-oriented monitor. It works well right out of the box, with very satisfactory default adjustments. The design is restrained and the unit is low-priced. What more could anyone but a real computer enthusiast ask?
