Huh. I don't think that I've even checked my score in ages. :O I'd completely forgotten about F@H. Maybe we need to run a Fold For THGC campaign or something.

>I'd completely forgotten about F@H

That's the great thing about the F@H software, one it's installed you'll never even notice it's running, it really is that unobtrusive.

Flinx ran a pretty good recruiting campaign a while back and got the current team together, but seems to have disappeared from the scene these days. Not sure who else has the time and energy to post as much as he did.

and if you would, then I would, then sjonnie would...
this way we could stay on the heels of mozillazine instead of waiting for all the others to overtake us...*lol*

It takes one second to install F@H.

You need the following files
FAH502-Console.exe
sc.exe
client.cfg
install.bat

Put them on a floppy with FAH502-Console.exe and client.cfg in a folder called 'FAH'.

The last two files you create yourself.

client.cfg
[settings]
username=sjonnie
team=40051
asknet=no
machineid=1

[http]
active=no
host=localhost
port=8080
usereg=no

install.bat

IF NOT %OS%==Windows_NT GOTO :END
xcopy /q /i /y A:FAH. %windir%system32FAH
A:sc.exe create FAHAgent binPath= "%windir%system32FAHFAH502-console.exe -svcstart -local -verbosity 9" start= auto DisplayName= FAHAgent
A:sc.exe description= "Folding@Home service"
A:sc.exe failure FAHAgent actions= restart/15000 reset= 15
A:sc.exe start FAHAgent
:END

Just insert floppy, click install.bat and you're done. Even easier, access it from a network drive. Oh, it only works on NT based OSs

Congratulations to all who helped!
a short review of what has been happening:
sjonnie: reached a whopping 4K daily average; approaching 600K! He's the boss!
ape: still churning out 1K a day on average -- he just had his 250K anniversary!!
Sparky: doing a straight 1K average at the moment! and 10K ahead of that Stefan... ;-)
Stefan: average dropped a little as well, but still a healthy +1.2K a day - and now also safely above the 200K milestone-wall @ EOC.
me: going strong again @ a healthy 800p/day avg. 2 milestones 2 go!!
ChipDeath: 6th place is beginning to be fought over soon! you can see this as his daily average is on the rise again!
Xnilf: yes, where's Flinx, while we're @ it? me thinks, he should be writing this update! ;-)
fishman: approaching 100K and fast! going for the 6th place?
Huh: a solid performer, he has some time to breathe before his 9th position will be challenged...
acron1 has also climed the ranks quite steadily but now his position is being attacked by good old Jimbomanx and quick-drilling molarman!
Lot's of other people have contributed, the one's who are currently active can be checked at this link!!

Thanks to everybody who folded his protein! We'll all be the one's who profit from proper drugs! ;-)
cheers!

as if they've heard my criticism about the missing milestones above 200K, the EOC-guys have updated their "Team Summary" page, so now the milestones are grouped and to compensate this they now go up all the way.
See this link near the bottom of the page...

Keep folding!

Since you seem to be the THGC resident F@H expert may be you can help me with something.

I'm running two instances of console F@H on my P4 with HT. I shutdown my computer while at work. When I start it up in the evening it starts a new work unit. How do I get it to continue work on the WU it started instead of it getting a new work unit? I have several unfinished WUs and this is seriously killing my production rate.

Thank you for your help.

I've been having great fun repeatedly re-installing windows on my A64 system, so my score in recent weeks has consisted almost solely of my work P4 2.8C and 1.6Ghz duron... And I've had to kill the F@H instance running on Our server here at work..

I'll hopefully have my home PC back and folding by tommorrow at least, and then I can throw my Flatmate's 'new' 2Ghz AXP system into the mix too...

My guess is you're not running it with the -local flag. Better yet, just run it as a service. Make sure each instance of F@HConsole502.exe is in its own directory. If that's still not helping please post your log file and we'll look through it to see what's happening.

Both are running with the -local flag. What also seems to happen is once a WU is done it stops and does not get a new one.

Each has its own directory.

Should I cut and paste my logs into a post?

To run it as a service do I do what you listed in a prior post? (4 or 5 before this one)

You need to run FAH502-Console.exe -local -configonly as a computer administrator.

When it asks you to install as a service type yes. When it says Ask before fetching/sending work type no. When it asks Use internet explorer settings type no. When it asks Use proxy type no

If you've installed it as a service it will say service will start next time you restart the computer. Ignore that and just goto Start>Run and type services.msc. Scroll down and you should see the FAH service, start it up and off you go.

Your client.cfg file you read

[settings]
username=sjonnie
team=40051
asknet=no
bigpackets=yes
machineid=1
local=107

[http]
active=no
host=localhost
port=8080
usereg=no

[clienttype]
type=1

Ignore my previous post about installing a service. That's just a short cut for when you want to install it on multiple machines quickly or over a network.

If it still isn't fetching new work units after you redid the config and installed the service post your log.

well concerning the instances of F@H working for me at the office, I've been lucky so far (mostly... - I've lost one A64, due to security issues: "I don't run anything on my box, I can't compile myself"-kind of guy...)
but as we have an extended heat-period here in Europe, I had to shut down most of my instances running at home, as I can't stand the thought of having a heater in an allready well overheated room... (I don't want to afford an A/C for maybe 20 days/year) :-)

I beg to differ about noone having the time and energy to post very often.

If you follow the link at the top of the forums Tom's Hardware Guide Community Folding Team and hit the home link, I try to keep the site updated as best I can. and post every couple days. Plus I'm still running F@H on a dozen or more computers.
