5750, just a bit faster than a 4870/gtx260. $150 is too much for it though I reckon.

How so? If it's faster (even by any margin) than the 4870, and the 4870 is still 140$, then it's priced right. Not to mention DX11, power consumption, etc.

Yes I know it looks fair enough, but ATI are still trying to shake off nvidia's percieved superiority.

There are a lot of people who would still buy a gtx260 instead of this, just because it's an Nvidia. That might not be the smart choice in terms of features, but what ATI should be doing is making that a really stupid choice in regards their purses and wallets. $120 would be really great.

They need to profit from their cards in the time they can, and that is as much possible before nVidia releases counter parts. Its normal to shoot for the highest possible margins.

Also $150 is GREAT price. You get a totally capable card with newest arch, DX 11 capabilities, super low power consumption (I guess 20W idle and about 100 on load).

Considering LOT of people have not so great computers or especially Power supplies <= 400 W it will be awesome upgrade.

Notice that the new cards are 168mm2 die size which makes it LOT less than 4870/90 series so ATI is to really profit right now from them.

nVidia on the other hand can do only 1 thing. Lose.
They have a choice though - to loose money, or to loose market share. That will define if they will drop the prices and we will see price war (which ATI will win) or stay at current level and let ATI profit and take market share.

I hope for the price war :)

Yup, if I was looking for a new card, I'd pay an extra $10 for a less power hungry card with DX11. Besides, if they price it too close to the HD 4870, they won't be able to sell off the rest of that inventory.

I hope its 20$
seriously though,
140$ should be good, since they probably will lower the prices on the 4870 when it comes out

4870 will drop to probably $120-$130 range. I am really eager to see how this card performs in games. It will be interesting analysis of how important is memory bandwidth, as this card beats 4870 in all aspects (cores, ROPs, texture units etc) except the memory bandwidth. I guess on lower resolutions it will be faster, and on higher resolutions it will be slower.

Anyone knows how much ram it is supposed to have? 512MB?

The 4890 is always over 512, so you can assume that 1GB is the new standard.

Y'guys think I should wait until the 4850 is ~60$ (hollidays, etc) instead of buying a 4670?

Reply to shadow187

I doubt prices of the 4850 will drop to $60 before the release of 5600 series. 5700 series are going to replace 4870-90 cards, and I guess 4850 with its $85 at the moment is still a great buy for under 100. But who knows what will happen, wait and see :)

Printer useage
By fihart, 1 day ago:

Most go into sleep mode which presumably saves power and the printer starts more quickly than if it runs through the test routines usual when first powering up. I always turn my printer off after use -- but then I don't do much printing.
