Are these biostar boards any good?
I wanna be able to get my p2 to 4+ ghz easy, and if my mobo limits me at all the 40$ that i save with this wont be worth it ;) .

Oooo thats my board. rare to see someone else go for it tbh ^^
Top board mate, only thing is the 8x / 8x Dual channel PCI-e. Really nice overclock options on it though...pretty much everything you could want.
Support is top notch as well from my experience.

I was looking at the $124 board for somebody last night. The Biostar's seem to have better reviews than most others.

I just read that again........ if you get that processor to 4 I'll buy you anew house.........lol

my goodness! q6600 at 4!..............
http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/rev [...] iew-2.html

If the q6600 is only 10% slower than the p2 at stock................
http://www.tomshardware.com/review [...] 14-10.html

And the phenom 2 is running at 3.0 vs 2.4 with the q6600........

and If i get a q6600 and run it at 3.8(ish)............

It might be comparable to a phenom 2 at 4.......

for 90$ less.......

But this is assuming that i get a very good q6600 with GO stepping, or i will never be able to hit 3.8 or even 3.4.

Am i crazy, or is what im thinking actually making sense? Is taking the risk worth saving a hundred bucks?

Q6600 is a better deal than a PhII. I HATE HATE HATE HATE to say that but oh well there it is. That said if you are set on a PhII this board is an amazing AM2+ board:

Edit: Also it is unconfirmed whether PhII can even hit 4 right now... I was counting on a 4.2-4.4 to make it a real deal but...

As exited as i was about getting a phenom 2, my opinions have shifted drastically in the last two hours. Pretty much everything ive seen has put it way below what was expected. The only instance i could find on the interwebz of a P2 at 4 was done by amd. Even reviewers cant get it higher than 3.7 on air, and if i put a q6600 at that speed or lower its at worse slightly slower than a phenom 2.

Im sorry amd but........

FAIL.
Im getting a intel.

The intel version of your board. The deed has been done. I have joined the dark side.
