You should be fine...you should have changed the settings right away...
Now you should benchmark your PC with 3DMark06 and post up the scores...

Hey guys, check this out...

Does it turn out that comparing our scores is useless? or do you think the scores should still be close enough to each other as long as the graphics cards are in the high performance ranges? what do you guys think about this? Thanks...

Hi,

Go to your Photobucket account/Album & put your cursor over the Picture you want to display in this forum...a menu will appear below it with 4 links [addresses] choose the one on the bottom "IMG Code" Cut then Paste it here in the Text Window. Use the Preview button below/right to view your Picture.

Note: replace the arrows in this IMG Code with brackets [ ] like this [IMG] & my picture will appear

I woke up at 3am, my computer was Locked :fou: I changed the DRAMM Voltage to 1.800v...Testing 1,2,3 :pt1cable:

I will clear the CMOS later today after I get 4 more hours of sleep, my Mobo has a jumper I can short to clear it with, how is the Best way to handle this, do I need to copy my current settings in BIOS...my Mobo manual is not clear on what to do???

Yes, I would suggest you takes notes and write down your settings, so this way when you clear your CMOS you will be able to type in your settings on-the-fly.....

My mobo has a "save to profile" or "Save to CMOS" option...I have 9 or 10 profiles to save to. You can save the settings of your bios to the profiles and then load them up...You can also save then to disk...It makes life easier when comparing different settings in your mobo...1.8? my ram is all on default settings...the speeds are the same as recommended by the ram manufacturer...but my voltage is 1.5...I need to check those settings again...

Reply to videl

Jim937, are you going to unlock once your ram is stable? The CPU performance is twice as good when unlocked...

Reply to videl

Hi, :hello:

Videl, the RAM voltage 1.8 was recommended by OCZ Tech [see email above]

Thanks for the Info I made a CMOS1 profile...I can't figure how to save to HHD since I do not have a Floppy.

Wish me luck, I will clear the CMOS after this post.

I ran a 8hr Prime95 @ DRAM @ 1.8v, it passed  altho I still thing stick #2 is bad IMO, time will tell.

Videl, Thanks for the use of Your thread, Yes I will unlock all cores

Comment: Hello James,

Try clearing the CMOS and then manually adjusting the memory settings in the BIOS. For this particular kit I recommend using timings of 7-7-7-20, command rate of 2t, and 1.8 volts.

If the problems persist even with these settings try testing each memory stick individually with Memtest. You can download a bootable copy from http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/ [...] ?id=tools.

If you find errors with your memory, especially if the errors follow one particular memory stick, your memory is likely faulty and will need replacement with an RMA.

Before unlocking it is a MUST that you make sure that the RAM is completely stable. This way when you unlock if your system is unstable you know it has nothing to do with the RAM... Just FYI.......

And could you possibly benchmark you CPU with 3DMark06 once unlocked...I want to see if I'm getting good scores only because I got lucky or if all the phenom II X2 CPU's are good when unlocked...Anyway, good luck.

Hi,

I will make sure my system is stable & when I unlock I will post All results here.

Question: Might you know why the timings are different when comparing CPU-Z Memory to E6 memory...CPU-Z memory is the same as the BIOS ??? However CPU-Z SPD & E6 are the same ??? I'm to Old for this $hit :sarcastic:

Thought I would do a little research while my Prim95 is running. In answer to my above question, I found the answer here this is a good read

Yeah it is...so that means that your memory is already overclocked when you buy it, so overclocking it even higher than advertised speeds is a challenge on most cards...

I can't wait for you to unlock the cores...You will be amazed at the power of this CPU...It works like a real quad...at least mine does, and I think yours will also...

For it's price, nothing can beat it! (If you chose the right parts and have a successful unlock) :)

Hi, :hello:

Looking good, since I changed the voltage to 1.800v Prime has not locked-up, test #1 was 8 hrs & test #2 is 4hrs and still running.

I took a peak at my ACC and I have a feeling when I activated it (CTRL-F1) I set it to "NORMAL" I don't see a way to reverse this to "HYBRID" without Flashing the BIOS...I'm not 100% sure about this...I have BIOS F4a I will check for a new flash.

I don't remember seeing this...> EC Firmware for Advanced Clock Calibration did you ?

Reply to Jim937

Yes just let it reset the firmware for ACC make sure its on hybrid and all cores -2%

Your Temps will disappear when you do this. In AOD it will -267C and in Core temps OCCT and any other hardware mon program it will say 0?! I dont like this at all but if you are sure your temps are good dont wory about it just move on. ACC will actually let you get a higher clock that without it but I refuse to run it because of no temp readings.

When you guys say test one stick of ram at a time, does that mean physically only have 1 stick at a time installed on your mobo or can you specify in the software to only test a certain stick?

Jim937, EC Firmware Selection is an option in the ACC on gigabyte boards with dual bios...On my board I would go into the MB Intelligent Tweaker, then Advanced Clock Calibration, and then set the EC Firmware to hybrid and the ACC to auto or all cores -2%...If you have a non gigabyte board, you would just have to set ACC to auto or all cores...(If you have the right bios version)

Hi,

Yes only have 1 stick installed at a time, so If you have 2 remove one ...also try a different Slot, I had both my sticks in 1&2 slot, I tested them both in slot 3&4 as well this way you will know if the Slots are Ok.

Videl, did your EC Firmware Selection disappear after you choose Hybrid...I do not see any EC Firmware Selection ???

Not really but some peeps feel there is a need to wipe the HD and make sure every thing is in place (programs).... You dont have to reinstall multiple times as long as you make sure you have what you need (no bloatware).....IMO....

Jim, Congrats on your "home-made quad"...
Nice scores by the way...very close to mine...
I know, the temps are high...but the max recommended temp for this CPU is 70 Celsius...so you should be fine...Anyway, isn't it great to have a quad? especially when you only paid 100 bucks for it?!?!!!

4 Cores and I'm only 67 years young what's next, hmmm lets OC it a bit. I will be getting Windows 7 64bit for my birthday this November !!!! How does 3.5GHz sound ? Ok now how do I do it safely without blowing this 4core gaming rig?

Edit: Btw I did flash my BIOS in order to get the EC up so I could change it to Hybrid.

3.5 is good...Here's how you do it: raise the multiplier by .5x (CPU Clock Ratio) at a time, until you reach the desired speed. The multiplier by default is set on 15.5x to achieve the 3.1 speed. You can get the CPU stable at 3.4 without voltage changes...I had to add .075 volts to get it 3.5 stable...so at 3.4v it should be stable at 3.5Ghz...be sure to use a good cooler...good luck :)

That's nonsense, the 6000+ does not bench the same as the 550.... Plus the 550 paired with DDR3 will blow the 6000+ out of the water......

Reply to OvrClkr

On the first page, meodowla's post with the 3dmark screenies...

6000+ @ 3.3 = 2507 3dmark
550BE @ 3.1 = 2506 3dmark

Now that is a stock 550 compared to a 200-300mhz OC'd Athlon (depending on Windsor or Brizzy) but that is still really close.

I just expected there to be more of a gap?

I am in complete agreement with the the DDR3 but am still amazed at the 3dmark result. I need to go home and 3dmark my 5600+ @ 3.2.. i think it's at a high 2400~

Reply to Kithzaru

the 6000+ might get a close enough score when overclocked...but no, the phenom II X2 550 is way better...especially with 6 megs of L3 cache!!!In real world performance and even in benchmarks the phenom II X@ 550 will beat the 6000+ easy...especially when overclocked...When overclocked high, the 550 get scores as high as the tricores at stock!!!

My 550 as a dual core at stock speed scores 2684...meodowla's score is a little low...

Also which do u recommend for 3.5GHz:

#1 Increase the Multiplier only...[This is not stable at this time for me.]
#2 Increase the FSB only
#3 Or a little of each ?
