Things change, and there are a lot of options on a new intel system that were not on my last build. (amd 3200+ k8v) I spent hours looking for bios options that I didn't understand.
Google, one at a time........... This link really helped me, so I figure it will help others as well.
I added the phrase bios walkthrough to the subject line because that was my first search for this project. It isnt a walkthrough, but it is the info you are looking for if you are a noob like me.

If you want to overclock your new system then read and understand this first, then do more research :-)

http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpu [...] cking.html

If you are starting from 'ground zero' in overclocking then you are far behind; like me. There are several things I do NOT agree with in this thread; like 'reduce cpu multiplier leads to system instability. I have seen too many threads and reviews with multipliers below stock. I will see if that is correct soon, but the basic content of the thread is sound. Then this will take 3 days to understand the info provided. I can read this in a few minutes But it took me three days to really understand this article. One section at a time because you can only absorb so much at one time. For those of you with 'less ignorance' this is a cakewalk. I freely admit that I am noob, The thing is there are other noobs out there and we NEED help.

P.S. My IQ is 'online average' 135, Its my education that sucks.........
please be kind (or not) if this is an Inappropriate post.
My asus p5k pro w/pc8500 mem, nx8800gts, and e8400 is only waiting for the last couple of items....
