The only credible source I found was running an X48 DFI Lanparty with 800 MHZ RAM and a Zalman 9700... Do NOT expect to hit anywhere near 3.0 on this thing, your motherboard is not stable enough and the stock HS can not OC well, its worse than the one I thought it came with. I do see some people surpassing the 3.0 level, but you must understand Chaos this is nothing more than a crippled higher end dualcore, some people will get good ones some will not. Your best bet is to send it back and get an E2180 with some good AC MX-2, you should be able to hit well over 3.0 GHZ. Otherwise you might RMA constantly for months and not get better results.

Sigh. fine i guess your right ill see if i can get the E2160, if i cant ill get another E1200 and find its max and determine a safe oc for it (hopes of 2.2 - 2.4).

Your kidding me. I have read so many posts of people getting 3.0-3.4 on this thing. I will probably RMA it and get a new one with hopes of getting a good oc on it.

While certainly achievable on stock HSF, many of them don't plan on using it daily at those speeds. They get it has high as they can, run their benchmarks, then call it a day. You won't ever find a 4-8hour prime95 screenshot on reviews.

Do you have another board to test the processor on before RMA?

Given a quality board, you can run E1200 at 3.0 - 3.2 like you want. I think it might be your board, many of those reviews are using much better motherboards.

I dont think it is the mobo considering its overheating, the mobo cant possibly make it heat/cool any different right?

Gigabyte has no reference when it comes to overclocking, they just slightly tweek and sell versions of the reference Intel chipsets. The chipset you bought is more for a low end user who just wants to surf the web, not extreme overclocking or gaming. It will work fine for your needs though, just do not expect to overclock that thing like a $250 can, with $100 RAM and a $50 HS.

I don't have any experience with GA 945 board, but you never know, it could contribute to a faulty temp reading, thus causing all your other software to read hi temps. Thats why you should try the processor on another board to see what it says.

Would if i could but the only other board i got is for AMD! AMD 2300 BE 1.9 GHZ>>>>>>>>>> E1200 1.9 GHZ. heh that AMD seems so much faster than this one and the windows score index gave me a 4.7 stock and 5.1 with the AMD and i get 4.4 on this cpu at 1.9 GHZ.

well you convinced me i wont get what i wanted, i just remember my Pentium D 805 ocing so high so easily on a cheap crappy mobo. I REALLY wanted a pentium D over any E1xxxx or E2xxxx series.

Could not find any cheap Pentium D's though. EXCEPT 1, was the Pentium D extreme edition wanted it so bad.......Sold for $64 on ebay. Miss that Pentium D of mine, shame the house burned down.

Well Cheap+Budget and OC can work if given parts that match up fine.

I got a cheap EVGA 650i mobo from EVGA's Bstock = $55
A E2180 from Newegg for $69

Results are better than I expected.

Heh just underclocked it to 1.0 GHZ (WOOT, dual core pentium III) put it under load and temps went from 55-59C so im assuming it may be the thermal paste, or the cpu is just crap.

Easy tune and HWM show same temperature and the bios shows the same as well. I trust the bios more than anything.

Look at my temps...

room temp = 12C

Sometimes the software is wrong. If its 50C-80C touch the heatsink. If hot then its probably right...

Well those applications normally make more heat than you use normally. RMA it or keep it at stock. Those Intel coolers are awful.
