i just got a peak of 1.5 MB/s downloading Grindhouse, the file size is 1.46GB and took less than 25 min. Some guy just got his testes chopped off by gangsters(in the movie)....My ISP is Cogeco. I use Bit Tornado and mostly get torrents from isohunt.com, Up 'till now 700 KB/s was the highest I've seen, between (100 and 250)KB/s is typical

Did you just thaw from the ice? This post this March will be two years old, get a clue.

I thought certain ISP where going to start nerfing common Bitorrent activity if flagged going through their networks. I believe Comcast is thinking of doing something like that. That would be poo-poo but it would also end a LOT of illegal pirating. Again torrents are used for the good as well but it's the bad that ruin it for everyone.

Seems everyone has their bits and bytes mixed up. To put the numbers in to perspective, an 8Mb connection (like mine) gives you a max theoretical of 1 MB (MegaBYTE). Most ISP's use policy maps to limit these things and there is variance one way or the other at times, I sometimes do get over 1MB downloads. If the b in Mb or Kb is little, it's kilobits, multiply by 8 and it will show your speed in KB. It's simple, just read the numbers correctly from the beginning and this confusion may go away.

I have gotten a peak of 924KB once with azerus, usually more around 500KB or 30-50 on crappy torrents. eMule has consistantly had over 700KB speeds. I use a pfsense firewall on an old dell sff system with a pentium 4 1.5 and 512 of ram and 3 nics. I might try combining my other 3mb connection, it has a 1meg upload vs my 8megs 512kb.

To the guy that said he had 100mbit connection, that's your link to your firewall/router/modem, not the internet, check a speed test site to get an idea of what your real speed is.

To the guy who said dsl is too slow for games, you got a 128k dsl or something? Anything over 256 should NEVER have a problem as long as other crap isn't trying to use the bandwidth.

AKA divide by 8 to get bit's to bytes E.G. 3000kbs=375KBs

i can get up to about ~180kb/s on my dsl connection. i believe the actual connection is 1.5mbps but i'm not sure. also my 802.11B wireless is definitely playing a part in slowing it down.

Bit of tweaking with a torrent client got me seeing 8mbytes/s on a download thanks to uni's 6 fibre-optic lines ^^

I get, depending on whose seeding or leeching, 600+ KB / sec. But if I really want something, I won't torrent it. Just jump on Newsleecher and get it the easy way. Giganews servers + Newsleecher = max download speed = best. Monthly fees to access giganews servers yes, but way faster searching and always uses my max connection speed of 630 KB / Sec.

fastest download i've sustained is 2,300 KB/s down/ 95 KB/s up over the course of an two hours while downloading 15 torrents at once

Can sustain upload speeds of 350 kb/s,

For a single torrent fastest speed i've seen is 1,800 kB/s down and 30 KB/s up.

My average when downloading 5+ torrents at a time is 1,200 -1,400 KB/s if well seeded. TV shows download at 650-1050 KB/s.

Upon getting a 250gig sata HD, i managed to download just shy of 200gigs in a 24 hour period.

port ranges are 6886, 21,000-27454 and 65535 i've found to be best using Bitlord,
