i7-7700 + GTX 1060 6gb VS i5-7400 + GTX 1070

I know there are quite a few similar threads but they don't have an answer to my question so I ask it my on. I'm basically buying a prebuilt PC (i'm not able to build my PC atm) which are on sale and I'd want to know which is a better option.

I mostly play games like BF1, GTA 5 and sometimes edit videos using After Effects. I'd really want to play GTA 5 with ultra realistic graphics mod and tons of car mods while maintaining 60fps+ 1080p. I don't care about the higher fps on other games if they can atleast play 60fps+ on medium-ultra.

My other concern is about the longevity of the PC, how long am I able to play modern games at 60fps+ on 1080p with medium-ultra details?

NB! Please don't recommend anything else, these 2 are my only options and I am not able to build a PC at this time.
Thanks

  1. I would recommend the i7 7700 even though the 1060 is worse than 1070. Firstly because i7 has more cores, performes better in gaming, editing, multitasking etc.. You will be able to play @60fps+ on 1080p for good 2/3 years, that's what i think anyway.

  2. Hmm, then again i could get the one with 7400 and upgrade later? How much will the one with GTX 1070 be better?

  3. The 1070 is about 30% faster than the 1060. Depends on what motherboard you will get and what RAM memory you have.

The build with 1060 has 8gb and 1070 build 16gb, both 2400mhz. I'm pretty sure both have H110 mobos. Was just thinking, would the 7700 be worth it sacrificing ~30% performance and 8gb of ram? Or will the 7400 bottleneck too bad?

  5. Your i5 7400 will bottleneck with the 1070, unless you get a i5 7500 with a GTX 1070. Otherwise the downgrade from 1070 to 1060 for an i7 instead of a i5 is worth it from my opinion.
