Does DisplayPort 1.4 of GPU support 1.2a of monitor ?

I want to buy

GPU: AORUS GeForce® GTX 1080 Ti Xtreme Edition 11G ( http://www.gigabyte.us/Graphics-Card/GV-N108TAORUS-X-11GD#sp )

Monitor: Asus ROG SWIFT PG279Q ( https://www.monitornerds.com/asus-pg279q-1440p-gsync-165hz-best-gaming-monitor/).

In GPU has " 3 Display Port- 1.4 " and the Monitor has only " 1 Display Port- 1.2a ". Only the Display Port can give the 165hrz in Monitor (HDMI - 60hz). But the problem is both GPU and monitor display port doesn't match with the version.

My question is, will it work the "Monitor DP-1.2a" with the "GPU DP-1.4" version. The DP version does it matters??? and those components will match up to get exact performance. i am confused.

please help.Thanks :)
