Windows 10 memory at 60% when using 550MB out of 8GB

My Windows 10 computer has 8GB of memory. It says though that around 60% of it is being used when I've added it all up to be around 550MB. If I launch a simple game like CSGO it will freeze for minutes at a time just on the main menu. This never happened before recently and I haven downloaded anything weird or gone on any strange websites. I have done AVG and Malware bytes tests and have no viruses too. If anyone can help me it'd be very appreciated. Thank you.

  1. click performance tab and then click the memory button, post a picture of that screen

How much is hardware reserved? Does it recognise all your dimms?

in msconfig, advanced settings, do you have max memory unticked? it should be.

Well only 4GB is showing up... i tried to take apart my pc and switch the slots they were in and its still showing 4.
Max memory is unticked as well in msconfig.
  3. 8gb installed, 4gb usable, 2gb hardware reserved.. how?? where did the other 2gb go?? I don't understand why you have 2 gb hardware reserved as it is, but missing 2 gb of a 4 gb stick is just odd.

How much shows up in the bios? you are running 64 bit windows aren't you?

it knows you are using 2 slots, it says it but it sees 1 4gb stick as a 2gb stick... are you using the right slots? you haven't got ram in slots right next to each other instead of the same channel? Most boards colour match the ram channels, should be in 1 & 3.

Did you check to see if the ram was compatible with the motherboard?

So, after turning it on and off again it showed all 8gb. Bad part, after that it gave two different blue screens associated with bad/dead ram. Now it wont make it to my desktop or anything so I'm assuming its dead.

    download memtest86:http://www.memtest86.com/
copy onto usb and boot of it and test the ram

or just buy more... i assume it wasn't new?
