help!! dvd drive not playing dvd movies

proto_prime i have a brand new system (nvidia 8800gtx and evga 780i with e8400) that i am unfamiliar with. i come from AMD products. i have a sony optiarc dvd-rw writer drive. the drive sees my dvd movie (and other dvds like Crysis) but when i go to try and play them in CyberLink PowerDVD, the program crashes (asks me to send the error report) before a picture or anything can be displayed

do i need a certain decoder for my particular optical drive?

badge So, not having the DVD decoder you are imaging Cyber Link requires to 'use' Power DVD causes your sysem to crash? I don't think a DVD not having a DVD decoder causes your system to crash.
