Hi,
My poor old Toshiba is old & slow & about to be cleaned up & shipped off, so I need to find myself a replacement
I've always been happy with Toshiba & felt it was a really reliable brand, but looking at the reviews lately, the Toshiba Satellites are getting some pretty poor reviews. I've even considered Dell, and wonder where they're at in the reliability stakes - they seem to be getting a lot of coverage in best picks articles in PC mags etc, but had always thought they were pretty unreliable.
Any thoughts?

Im not a fan of Dell. Some Toshibas are not as good as they should be..


I am always promoting Samsung at the moment. They do a great job, warranties brilliant and they look good too.

Have a look at them, im sure you wont be disapointed.

I would go Samsung or Sony.... Dell are not the best in the world - made to a budget price a lot of the time.

HP or Compaq will serve you well too

Dell over Toshiba, based on price alone, but favourite would be HP.

HP consumer machines are shat, if your buying HP go for a business model.

Samsung just rock imho. Even Sony have produced some duffers.

------------------------------ Do not buy Acer laptops period.

They are cheaply made products with cheap call centres with cheap service..

I'm have a HP DV7 and HP G60 consumer laptops and build quality is very good.

Have had numerous Toshiba business laptops in via work for repair and all have suffered major issues within the first 6 months.

You've been lucky on the consumers there.. But the quality alas is not good.

Stroll on the days that HP made a good sturdy home based laptop :(

The worst ones are labeled Compaq - the best of the best brands out there at one time, now look at them.
