Hi all! Have questions about above:
1) is TV tuner internal?
2) what can be change in the laptop itself by user? video, memory, hard
drive?
3) is possible to swap CD/DVD for second battery?
I am looking for one machine-for all-home, road. Have I7K now and very
happy with it, but looking for something better for next 5 years. Expect
to have one machine to watch TV, listen music, and all the computer
things. Thank You for any advice

Peter, I have one and like it, but it is very large and heavy. If I was
going to travel much, I wouldn't choose the 9300 -- too big and heavy.

For my purposes it is perfect and I like it a lot.

I'm not positive of your answers, but I believe the answers are 1) External
(from a google search as Dell.com isn't clear), 2) All three and 3) No

The DVD drive is held in with a screw, which leads me to believe that it
isn't easily swappable. Not hard, but not intended for a battery swap.

My approach to TV on my I9300 is to use an older desktop as my media server.
I have three Hauppauge TV tuners and use Snapstream's BeyondTV to record TV
and automatically convert it to wmv files. Those I copy to the I9300 and
watch in Media Center.

Media Center really requires wmv to play videos properly with the front
buttons. Mpegs play, but won't skip forward with the > button. wmv files
will.

Tom,

Though the 9300 is listed at, what, around 7lbs? - I've voiced my concerns
to people who've asked about them and planned to be mobile with them. My
thought was that even if it were not heavy, the sheer size (length/width)
would make it bulky to carry in and out of an automobile or to use inside a
vehicle. Am I wrong?

The OP is already using an I7K, so he's apparently used to lugging around
about 8-9lbs of machine - which is a lot to ask.

Perhaps he could consider staying with one of the newer models with a 15"
screen. Perhaps a bit lighter than his old box but with more
horsepower.....

I believe the I6K and perhaps the Latitude D810(?) have 15" displays. There
may be more.

Good point. Part of it is the sheer size. A large (no pun intended) point
for me is my comparison. My other laptop is a 3 pound Thinkpad X40.

It looks like the I9300 gave birth to the X40.

Thank You for reply. I am using it only at the hotels, busses so weight
isn,t not an issue. TV tuner is a mistery-Dell technicians gave me two
different answer and the sales lady had no clue...Also lack of beeing
able to put two batteries at the same time is making me probably stick
with my old one,
