hello,
dell dimension xps-t600... (win98se)
i never used the ms works suite and now i need excel and msWord.
i have disk 1 (ms word 97, ms works 4.5a, ms works calendar, ms ie 4.01,
ms money 99 setup, ms encarta encyclopedia setup, ms graphics studio
greetings 99 setUp)
i find no disk 2 or 3
disk 4 has ms money 99 audio-video help, ms word valuPack,
disk (no number) has ms graphics studio greetings 99
and disk 1 of 1 which has ms encarta encyclopedia 99.

questions:
1. do disk 2 and 3 exist?
(i.e. is one of them perhaps the disk for the graphics studio
greetings?)
are disk 2 and 3 needed for msWord and msExcel?
2. i cannot find the c of a (for the number) i do have the dell win 98se
-- would this be the same?
NB: upon my honour this software is mine (not stolen) just not too
organized:)
thanks for any advice!

Have you considered trying OpenOffice instead? OpenOffice is a free
alternative to MS Office and can read and write to all the MS formats.
I've been using it exclusively for a while now (at least for my last
year at college) and I haven't found any compatibility problems yet. To
be fair, I'm an engineer, so I mostly use either Writer (Word) or Calc
(Excel) and every so often Impress (PowerPoint). I've read some people
who heavily use macros may run into problems, but I'd say for the
average user it's a perfect alternative.

The 5 disks in Works Suite99 are
1. Works4.5a and Word 97
2. Money and Word Valu-Pack
3. Encarta 99
4. Graphics Studio Greeting Cards
5. Streets and Expedia

You seem to have all the disks, even though the numbering
seems slightly confused.

As to the COA, the Win98 COA is not it.
It's most likely an OEM version and
the number is in the format
12345-OEM-1234567-12345
if it's retail then I'm not sure but think it would have
a 3 digit number instead of the OEM i.e.
5#-3#-7#-5#
