I need a power supply for a 12v dc, 1.5 a. Max 20 watt lcd monitor/tv. I have bought a 24 v rotary adaptor - it does not supply enough juice to illuminate the monitor, though it does power up.
I had a 12v dv 3.3 amp prior to this but it ran too hot and eventually packed in.
When you buy an adapter, make sure you have the output voltage right (unless you got one with variable voltage) and the output amp equal or higher to the one you replace. If you are not sure whether you need regulated adapter or not, always choose regulated adapter (cost only a little more). Also get one with the right size connection, unless you got one of those with swappable connection. If you are not confident that you will make the right decision, go to your local electronic hardware shop and the sales there will know what you need (at least in my local store, people in there know their stuff).
