my lap top shuts down and i,ve noticed it heats up a bit why?

if the cooling fins have filled up with dust this can reduce air flow and cause the computer to heat up.

get a can of compressed air and give the vents on the bottom of the laptop a clean out. this normally fixes most laptop overheating issues.
