ASUS K501J Power Jack Replacement

Forum Laptops & Notebooks : General Discussion ASUS K501J Power Jack Replacement

I'm trying to find instructions on how to partially disassemble an ASUS K501J laptop to replace the power jack. I've found partial instructions (http://www.insidemylaptop.com/disassemble-asus-k-series-notebook/), but they haven't gotten me any further than I've been able to get on my own. It looks like I have to crack the plastic "shell" of the bottom half apart in order to replace it.

Does anyone have any experience with this particular model? I'm extremely frustrated and about at the end of my rope here.

Failing that, does anyone know of a non-sketchy place in the U.S. that can replace the power jack for me that won't charge me an arm and a leg? I wanted to do it myself, because it would only cost about $15 and most places seem to charge about $100 or more.
