Hello,
my grandaughters toshiba is 2 months old and all of a sudden all she can get is a black screen that shows flashing cursor then no bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key, she does not have a boot disk and the computer has been clicking

Most likely a dead HDD. Contact Toshiba for their technical support. This will most likely lead to a return repair. Arrange the repair and get Toshiba to replace the HDD under warranty.

Exactly the Case, Sounds like a old fashioned HDD crash. Hope you got back up for all her files...Cause, you won't see them anymore

sounds like a cable could have come loose during transportation or rough play.
