Battery icon says 100% charged. I unplug the adapter, but the laptop is dead. I downloaded HP's battery check utility and it checked out OK and 100% charged.

I changed power settings to allow for more charging, but still no power after I unplug the adapter.

Is this a motherboard problem??

Hoping to hold off doing that until ---possibly---a solution comes thru; I downloaded the HPBattery utility from their site: battery 100% charged and OK.

How old is your battery? When the charger is plugged in is it showing that its charging?

Battery may be 3 years old; charging lite is off when, not even flashing. Battery icon on desktop says 100% charged
