[Solved] Fujitsu laptop Extremely Hot!!!

Hello everyone,

I have a fujitsu simens amilo d1845 laptop and it's running very hot. Specifically on the left side of the laptop. Sometimes it even shuts off. I cleaned the heat sink and applied new thermal paste, but it's still hot and the fans are running non stop and full speed. The motherboard temp is 75 °C and the hard drive temp is between 40-60 °C. Tried XP Pro, Vista, Seven and Linux Mint, but it still funs hot. What can I do to stabilize this laptop? I only need it for a few months until I save up enough cash for a better laptop.

CPU: Mobile Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.06GHz (1 Core 2 Threads/Socket 478 mPGA, 1MB L2 Cache)
RAM: 2.0GB DDR @ 166MHz (2.5-3-3-7)
Motherboard: Uniwill 257SA0 (CPU 1)
Graphics: 128MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700 Series (Fujitsu Siemens Computer)
Sound: Realtek AC97 Audio
Optical Drives: NEC DVD+-RW ND-6650A

It truly sounds like the system is failing. Short of replacing the motherboard and the heatsink/fan assembly, there isn't much you can do to the rig. You might think about using a laptop cooler to help mitigate the excess heat until you get a new system. Good luck!

yeah that's a pretty old laptop, so it has to work hard.

as suggested you can get a laptop cooler.

another thing you can try, I'm guessing the battery is close to being dead, so it probably gets really hot, pull it out and run the laptop without the battery, it will get you an extra hole in the casing to vent heat and get rid of one of the heat generation entities.

another thing you could try is get MSI after burner (or you can do this through BIOS, I think msi is easier) and under clock the CPU and GPU. It will lower the responsiveness but will lower the temperatures too.

Had a local pc shop check it out......packed full of dust. They blew all the dust out with an air compressor and it's much cooler. I will still get a laptop cooler to help it even more. I will get MSI after burner as well. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
