How good is it for playing games with 8 GB RAM, 500 GB Hard disk capacity, i7 processor and Windows 7 Ultimate ?

As long as you don't crank your video settings (in games) to max, it will do okay. Running with "medium" settings should be fine.

What games and what system are you considering?

HD 5470 will preform worse than a 240gt or worse than a 9400 gs.

This is true in the majority of cases. Hence, the question to look at the make/model in question to offer better "gaming" alternatives for the money. Regardless, the suggested system will play games (for the most part) well at lower graphics settings.
