i use a Acer Aspire 5338 and am having problems with the battery as it does not last for more than an hour. now i want to replace it but i can only find a 12V. if i replace a 11.1V with a 12V will there be any effect

Just make sure that the battery you get is for your model of system and you will be fine. The slight difference in voltage will make no meaningful difference.

Ask you battery provider whether plugging a different volt battery into your laptop will harm it or not. Most laptop have voltage protection so it should cause any harm
