i would like to known wheather the image windows backup copy that came along with my laptop can be recovered

Typically, yes. What brand of laptop do you have? Usually, you will have a utility installed that will let you make backup media of the original factory image.

If you can boot the computer, Just go into window 7 and create a new image of your C drive and a New recovery/rescue disk. You can put the image file on an external HDD or about 3 -> 5 DVDs
