Hey all, Need a new laptop and after looking I see most of the mainline brands don't have 1394 or ExpressPort anymore. Need them for my DV cam, I do videography and need to import from the camcorder. Any ideas on an i7, sandy bridge, Nvidia graphics, 8gig, etc.?

Thanks,

Jeff

Check out Apple MacBook Pros and Dell Precisions just to name a couple that often include 1394. Sony Viaos often support as well,

What is your budget?

Clevo cases recently saw a comeback of 1394 ports (P151HR1).

Apple or Sony is most recommended for video processing applications. I didn't see any Asus with 1394 recently

I am looking at the Clevo P150 or P170 series. Apple is out as I have Pc software and they cost may too much. I have seen some of the high end Levono with 1394 but no Dell's, at least not the Alienware or XPS units.

budget is $1300-1500.

Thanks, Jeff

I wouldn't look at a gaming rig (like the Alienware or XPS models) for firewire. The Dell Precision series, like this one does include the capability:

Also, consider Dell's Outlet store. Great buys can be had here:
