More Information

i have posted earlier about trouble getting my dv500 card to work. i've learned that the dv500 needs to be the only firewire device in my computer and will not work with the matrox external firewire harddrive ( i suspect it's a matrox problem).

i've removed the card and set it in another system:
windows XP home OS; pentium 4, 1.7 GHz; 512MB PC800 RDRAM; Maxtor 80GB Hard Drive, 5400 rpm, nVidia GeForce2 MX™ 32MB AGP; IRQ 11, shared with Intel Pro/100 VE Desktop Adapter and NVidia Card - the only non used IRQ is 2; Adobe Premier 6.01;
software version 4.0;
I am trying to capture analog 8mm video onto the hard drive to edit and burn to a SVCD.

In project settings i have capture format set to Pinnacle AVI capture, in preferences, i have none selected in device control - when i try to change to pinnacle dv device control, i get an error message "No DV device detected. i confess, i don't know it these settings are correct

when i open capture, movie capture and select record, i get an adobe premiere error "an error occured during capture". following the dv500 manual, i have everything connected according to spec, installed premiere first, upgraded to 6.01, installed pinnacle version 2.0 and upgraded to 4.0., under device manager, the ieee1394 host controller is pinnacle systems dv500-1394 in PCI slot 1, pci bus 3 device 12, function 0. driver version 3.0.0.0,
