I have some space limitations on the desk because of my 23" monitor so I can't place conventional speakers to the sides of my monitor. I have to compromise and place them in front of the monitor so I need a low profile design like THESE.

The problem is, I want better sound quality than those and I want to spend in the $100 range. Anyone have some suggestions for low profile 2.1 speakers like these with a little better sound quality? I prefer a cleaner, crisper sound over more bass.

You can place them right behind the monitors also.

Some of the best 2.1 speakers ever made, and very cheap when they were new. The current models from them are 3-4 times the cost of the originals.

Yes, but I think for that much money they are over-priced. Look on Amazon or somewhere for them. Still good speakers.

After looking high and low, I found my solution by simply reading my monitor's user guide. Apparently, my 23" Dell will accommodate a soundbar that attaches to the bottom of the monitor. This is what I decided to go with based on price, reviews, and integration with my monitor and low profile requirements. Dell™ AX510PA Stereo SoundBar with power adapter. To supplement these, I'll get a good pair of Grado's or Sennheiser cans for the best audio quality.
