Would going from 24" to 27" 1080p be pointless?

Forum Computer Peripherals : Flat Panel Monitors Would going from 24" to 27" 1080p be pointless?

So I just got a 24" 1080p monitor (Asus VS248).
I like it in that the colors are nice.. but for some reason when playing call of duty with my PS3 on it doesn't look as clear as my 46" LCD 120hz TV. For example my gun won't look crystal clear. Not sure what that's about.

Otherwise, text size is nice at regular/100% in IE for example (I need to use 125% on my laptop with 15.6" screen with 1600x900 resolution).

The problem is that relative to its width it is so damn short, I feel like I want more work space.

I thought about upgrading to 27" but I realized that if it's still 1080p... won't the work space be the same but everything will just be BIGGER?

So maybe I should wait for prices of 2560x1440 resolution screens to go down.. will they?

If it doesn't look clear, it could be a lot of things. I'd try to figure exactly what it is before throwing money at it.

It's probably just a calibration thing.

What I'm more worried about is whether a 27" will be worth it

Well... everything will look slightly bigger if the distance between you and the monitor remains the same.

It's kinda like going from a 47" HDTV to a 52" HDTV assuming both have the same features.

But if bigger is not needed, just more work space... = pointless?

Figure out why the image doesn't look as good.

How are you hooking it up? Maybe you are using an analog connection to the monitor, and a digital one to the TV?

I've tried VGA from laptop and HDMI from laptop and PS3. I think it might just be a matter of a crapload of calibration.

My frame of reference is a 46" LCD TV with 120hz

An analog signal like vga won't look as clear as a digital signal like HDMI. I'm not sure why your ps3 looks bad though.
