SD card killed after format

Forum Computer Peripherals : Digital Cameras SD card killed after format

I used an SD card to recover my Chrome OS thinking that I would be able to format it back to its original state. The recovery went fine, and when I plugged the card into my computer it said "Card must be formatted to be used." So I did, however it gave me weird options like only 2gb space in a FAT format. I went with it thinking it would sort itself out, and now I can't use it. It has only 2gb of space (32 originally) and I'm guessing is in FAT format instead of FAT32. I don't care about that data on the card, but I don't want to have to replace it (seriously that thing was expensive). Did I just screw myself over by using for the recovery image? The card won't be recognized with my camera and refuses to be used by my computers. Can I do anything? I cant get it to format to FAT32 anymore.

Do an anti-virus scan, and then delete all data from the SD card. Then try the FAT32 format.

I've tried two computers with the same result and I still can't get it to FAT32

Try using this: http://cmrr.ucsd.edu/people/Hughes/SecureErase.shtml

I am not sure whether it will work for SD cards and other flash media.

did you try in diskpart.exe:

list volume

(find the volume you want to extend)

select volume x (x is the number of the volume you want to extend)

extend
