Have HP 4c operating on a Gateway P400 Win98 OS with SCSI card and using visioneer software.

Scan quality recently became poor. Question: Where do I start troubleshooting? The Gateway P400, the SCSI card, HP 4P scanner, visioneer software? Not willing to "repurchase" a scanner. Your advise requested.

What does 'poor' mean? Dark? Light? Lack of contrast? Grainy?

Did you check to make sure you did not accidentally change a setting?
