Cable TV to my Computer not looking to promising!

I had this idea of watching TV next to my computer. I have both an iMac 24" that isn't being used and I also have an extra 24" Samsung monitor. Seems there are several ways to do it but I must have chosen a less useful one. I bought EyeTV One and used a cable line to the item that then plugged in to the back of the mac. I was able to get maybe 5 channels but half the time the picture is garbled or just freezes. After spending the day on the phone with Elgato, I will be shipping it back tomorrow.

I am up for another suggestion. I have a coax cable that comes out of the wall and into a small cable box with a remote. With the EyeTV I was able to change channels using the software. It just worked horribly. Wondering what you guys use that is reliable and has a great picture. I'm even considering buying a Samsung monitor that has a tv tuner built in. Wanted to check here first though. The other option would be just to buy a regular flat screen tv and be done with it.

Here is what I did: OTA broadcast to digital media converter. Digital media converter RCA out to RCA in on my monitor.

Works like a charm. You could also do RCA to VGA and connected it that way.
