[Solved] HP's annoying "Single Ink Cartridge Mode" poke

I can't be the only one who is annoyed by the not-so-subtle daily prodding I get from HP's software, 'reminding' me that I am in "Single Ink Cartridge" mode. Yes, I KNOW that. That's how I WANT it. I'm not going to fork out $30+ for a color cartridge, only to have it dry out on me before I've used it. I don't even want to waste time battling to refill it, if for some reason I were to actually use it up. If I really need a color print, I will use the color laser at my office.

So why isn't there an obvious way (or a non-obvious way) to get rid of this daily poking? HP's software, the "Solution Center," has an obvious place where this should be - but isn't: settings|other settings|other|auto prompt settings. Yeah, you'd think, right?

If only HP were as good as keeping a connection between my multifunction printer and my computer, as it is at trying to get me to buy and add that color cartridge!

They just want you to buy more cartridges.

i know hp says (but i cannot find) they have drivers without all the extra "crud" in their updates area. perhaps the basic drivers do not include said friendly reminders to buy ink.

other than that, if you can not find it in the settings then most likely (other than what i mentioned) there is no simple fix. even adding an empty cartridge to fill the spot would result in a message popping up.

so i'd see if you can find the basic drivers set (if you dont need the advanced version)

Maybe that driver changeout will be a rainy-day amusement...I should more often be weighing the relative costs to my Gross Personal Happiness of tolerating such regular momentary annoyances vs the potential for hours of frustration in eradicating them. Of course if I am not careful in applying that determinant, I'll find myself Returning To Analog and having more of a life...ah, maybe that's what HP and MS really want me to do?
