I can get my machine to play but can't get it to record. Red light comes on but nothing on the meters. It is in source position. Got any ideas? Thanks for your time.

What makes you so sure that there is audio going into the deck? Where is the source of the audio coming from?
Is the little plastic tab on the cassette tape punched out? If so, it won't record.

This is an old post that I had removed. I found that the signal wasn't great enough and had to go through a mixer to achieve that. Thanks for your response.
