I have a new computer and installed itunes and music.
However when I connect my ipod it shows up but I cannot transfer songs from itunes to it.
What is the cause of the problem and possible solution?
Thank you for any help!!!
you should be able to just drag and drop from itunes to your ipod with no issue. if it doesnt work normally itunes will pop up with a window saying why. list that error here.
i know that if you bought songs off of itunes (or imported from elsewhere) that have drm your itunes installation/computer must link itself with your account to play them, transfer them or burn them to a cd. typically this is only done once (and you dont need to "log in" anytime after that unless buying music.
this might sound like i'm blaming you (which i'm not) but this question must be asked: do you know how to use itunes and an ipod (have you exchanged files on another pc fine?) or are you trying to figure it out from scratch?
It's because your iPod can only be synced to one computer at a time unless you enable the Manually manage music and videos option from under your iPod's summary tab. However, this method of syncing is much different from having iTunes automatically sync content for you.
So in order to sync your iPod with the new iTunes you'll need to copy the music from your iPod over to your new PC and then erase and sync it.

Well if you bought those songs on iTunes I think it’s easy to get them back, because they should be linked to your account so you can download them for free again.
But if those music on your ipod are from other computers via itunes, you may not transfer them from ipod to pc because itunes can only transfer these fiels from itunes to your ipod touch. In that case you will need some other tools to do that. Google iPod Transfer and maybe you can find something useful.
